Mossy Bigleaf Maple, Autumn
Cascade Foothills, Washington

For me, remnants of a season, particularly autumn, can be even more interesting than the peak of a season. Here I was taken by the snaggy nature of the leafless bigleaf maple and the fading colors of the shurbs. The rain had just let up and colors were beautifully saturated.

With compositions like these I'm reminded of the work Eliot Porter did, the photographer who inspired my own journey.
