Japanese Maples
Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle, Washington

Despite the heavy rain on this day, I decided to make the trip to Seattle's arboretum. I wasn't expecting to find much as it was late in the season and most colors had faded around the city. To my delight, these beautiful Japanese maples still had color as did the surrounding trees! I must have been the only person in the arboretum, but I wasn't going to complain...the plastic bag went over the camera and I got to work. I wasn't exactly sure how the image would come out as it was a very heavy overcast with rain and my exposure was 15 seconds, but when the film was processed I was overwhelmed with this scene. This has become one of my favorite images.
